Preserving valuable documents can only be done by using archivally safe products that meet government specifications. The initial layer of protection is to place them in Mylar D® (or its equivalent Melinex 516 sleeves) and then into acid free boxes. If using a backing board as a stiffener, only acid free cardboard should be used. BCE offers only archivally safe materials to archivists.

TIME-X-TENDERS™ is a pure, bright white heavy weight board (42 mil thick) and is the highest quality board available.
LIFE-X-TENDERS™ This ultimate acid free backing board is made with a thin layer of activated charcoal laminated between two sheets of true archival acid free boards. Life-X-Tenders™ absorbs and neutralizes the contaminants in comic book pages and retards the aging process.

Now, BCE has developed Life-X-Tender Plus™, using technology designed by Bell Laboratories. Life-X-Tenders Plus™ are made from very fine copper, bound to plastic and then bonded onto a sheet of certified true archival quality paper. This product will fight off atmospheric pollution and provide long term, non-contaminating protection, including the low levels of gases produced by the paper and inks themselves!
These 9 mil. sheets go inside the books, right next to the paper and ink one quarter of the way in from the front and back covers. The technology is so powerful that only two sheets per book are necessary! Combined with our Mylar® Gardz or Time-Loks™ along with our Life-X-Tender™ backing boards for stiffness and proven acid-neutralizing quality, you can't do any better to preserve your valuable collection.
